We live in a world where everyone wants their problems remedied immediately. If you have a headache, you’ll probably pop a few ibuprofen to take away the pain. If you’re having indigestion issues, most likely your go-to will be Pepto-Bismol to take away the discomfort. Let’s face it, when it comes to medical issues, the first thing we go to is medicine. Now there's nothing wrong with taking medicine or pharmaceutical drugs when prescribed by a doctor, but the focus shouldn’t solely be on medication, but rather preventative measures.

In the bible we see many verses that highlight the importance of taking preventative measures and the consequences that can result if we don’t. Proverbs 22 verse 3 says, A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. This verse is saying that If a person has wisdom and understanding, he will acknowledge that things might not be ok if he partakes in a dangerous activity. He will then turn away and flee. But a person who looks wisdom or in the verse as it says is “simple-minded” he will disregard danger, proceed and will eventually get punished by the consequences.

We see this concerning sin. If you are immersed in the Word and living for Jesus, you’ll know that God hates sin and you should turn away from sin because you know the consequences. However, if you aren’t immersing yourself in God’s word and not living for Jesus, most likely you’ll give into the temptation of your flesh, sin and suffer the consequences from sin. When that happens, then you’ll seek God for help when there's nowhere else to turn.

This happens to a great number of Christians every day. One thing we can do to make sure we never run into this situation is to focus on this thought. The bible says in Timothy 4 verse 15, Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.Paul advises Timothy to meditate on the teachings of the word of God for growth and impact.

Meditate so you don't have to medicate. Tell yourself, “meditate instead of medicate.” I hear all too often that the Bible is the medicine for the soul. Don’t get me wrong, yes the bible is medicine for the soul and can bring healing and is the go-to for dealing with problems, but what we should put more emphasis on is preventative measures so we don't need medicine for our problems.

Instead,I like to see the Word of God as vitamins for your soul. It's something you need every day to keep you healthy and in good shape, so we don't need medicine. If we start to put more focus on taking preventative measures and meditate daily on the Word, we’re less likely to have to medicate. All too often, Christians only go to God when they need something, and treat our God like he’s some kind of Genie. Oftentimes there is no praise, no worship, no bible reading. Just ask, ask, ask.

If we want help from the Lord, we need to walk with him every day. We need to live for him every day. We need to Have God in our mind and let him lead us with every action, interaction, and decisions we make. We have to give it all to him to receive the blessing. Yes, it can be hard because our flesh is weak, but if we fall, get back up and continue to serve with everything you’ve got. In a worldly sense, medication, especially pain medication will only put a band-aid on the problem and make you feel good for a little while. How about we take our spiritual vitamins which is our daily walk with God, and feel good all the time?

Read your bible, follow in the way of Christ with obedience, humility and meekness and God will give you what he promises which is peace, rest, forgiveness and healing. The greatest promise of all is revealed in romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

God promises to work all things for good for those who love Him.

 Hope this helps, God Bless
