An observation about the Titanic
You know, God’s creation can tell us so much about who He is—His splendor, His perfection, His wisdom.
Have you ever looked up at the moon on a dark night and just noticed how bright it can be? It’s incredible how much light it gives off, even when the world around it is pitch black.
I was watching a documentary on the Titanic the other day, and something caught my attention. They said that on the night the ship sank, it was completely dark. There was no moonlight at all.
Think about that for a second. If there had been even a little bit of light—just a faint glow in the sky—more people might have been saved. They could have seen floating debris, found lifeboats, or even spotted others who needed help. That little bit of light could’ve changed everything.
And then it hit me—the moon doesn’t create its own light. It reflects the light of the sun.
That’s exactly what we’re supposed to do as believers. The Sun represents God, the source of all light. The moon represents us. We don’t have our own light—we reflect the light of the Son, Jesus Christ, into a dark world that desperately needs Him.
2 Corinthians 4:6 says,
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
The same God who spoke light into existence at creation has now shined His light into your heart. That’s not just poetic—that’s powerful. God placed His light inside of you so that you can reflect His glory, His love, and His truth to others.
So let me ask you:
Are you reflecting His light?
When people look at your life, do they see Jesus shining through?
We’re surrounded by people who are lost, hurting, and stumbling in darkness—just like those passengers on the Titanic. They’re reaching out, looking for something solid, something true, something that can save them.
And God may be calling you to be the reflection they need—to shine just enough light so they can find their way to Him. So don’t hide your light. Don’t let the darkness dim your faith. Let Christ’s love shine through your actions, your words, and your kindness.Because even a small reflection of God’s light can pierce the darkest night. Be that light. Shine so that someone else can find their way home—back to hope, back to peace, and back to the arms of Jesus.
